PLASTICS

  •  WHAT ARE PLASTICS?
Plastic is a material any of a group of synthetic or natural organicmaterials that may be                       shaped  when soft and then hardened, includingmany types of resins, resinoids, polymers,                   cellulose derivatives, casein materials, and proteins

  • WHAT MATERIALS ARE PLASTICS FORMED BY?

Materials composed of various elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen,                          chlorine, and sulfur.

Plastics, also called polymers, are produced by the conversion of natural products or by the                 synthesis from primary chemicals generally coming from oil, natural gas, or coal.

  • WHAT ARE PROPERTIES OF PLASTICS?

Plastics have numerous properties that make them superior to other materials in many                         applications. Plastics generally have: resistance to corrosion and chemicals, low electrical and             thermal conductivity, high strength-to-weight ratio, colors available in a wide variety and                     transparent, resistance to shock, good durability, low cost, are easy to manufacture, resistant to             water and have low toxicity.

  • WHAT ARE NATURAL PLASTICS AND SYNTHETIC?
Synthetic polymers are derived from petroleum oil, and made by scientists and engineers.

Natural polymers occur in nature and can be extracted. They are often water-based
